Food Processor delicious dishes and drinks for summer For those of us who love to cook, the best part of summer is the abundance of herbs and vegetables. Whether cultivated vegetables in the grocery store, a fruit basket at farmer's market, or herbs picked from your garden own backyard, tastes better when it's all made from fresh ingredients .
So if you are getting your veggies from the farm to the other side of town, or you reap the benefits of your own green thumb, a few drinks and dishes that take advantage of the bounty of summer.
Gin Gin Mule
Julia Child has rarely been without a glass of wine when she cooked, so let's start this off with a cocktail before moving on to something else.
Gin Gin Mules are a delightfully refreshing drink in summer and they are a great way to enjoy mint leaves in your garden outside. This recipe makes four servings.
3 oz lime juice (about six tablespoons)
4 oz simple syrup
40 or so mint leaves
8 oz ginger beer or ginger
6 oz gin
First, make simple syrup, you should mix 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan and boil for a few seconds. Stir well and let cool. Simple, right? Then just throw everything into a blender (blender from Cuisinart Duet Blender Food Processor works fine) and serve over ice.
If you want a melting version of this drink, you can mix the right of the ice with everything. A blank version of this cocktail can be easily done simply by using more than six ounces of ginger ale, instead of gin.
Pasta Sauce Garden
When tomatoes ripen in the garden, they tend to do everything at once. If you do not use them in a hurry, they will begin to turn. transform them into a sauce for pasta is a great way to get rid of extra tomatoes because you can just pot of sauce and eat it months later the line! This recipe calls for all sorts of ingredients that can be found in your garden or farmer's market.
10 large tomatoes
1 large yellow onions, chopped
1 large zucchini, washed and chopped
½ lb. mushrooms, washed and chopped
½ cup parsley
½ cup basil
¼ cup oregano
1 carrot
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 cup dry red wine
salt and pepper to taste
Start by chopping all the vegetables and herbs (all except the garlic, olive oil, red wine and pepper) and throw it in the food processor. 1 bunch fresh cilantro
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ cup walnuts or pecans
½ cup olive oil
