Movie Review of Valkyrie - Land
During the Second World War, the Wehrmacht Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) is severely wounded in Tunisia, and the house was evacuated from Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Henning von Tresckow (Kenneth Branagh) tries to assassinate Adolf Hitler by smuggling in a bomb on board Hitler's private plane. The bomb, however, fails to explode safely and Tresckow gets to hide his intentions. After learning that the Gestapo arrested Major Hans Oster, the orders of General Olbricht (Bill Nighy) to find a replacement. After recruitment von Stauffenberg in the German Resistance, Olbricht offers Stauffenberg to a meeting of secret committee who coordinated previous attempts on the life of Hitler. Members include General Ludwig Beck (Stamp), Dr. Carl Goerdeler (McNally), and Erwin von Witzleben (Schofield). The colonel was astounded to learn that there is no plan for after the assassination of Hitler.
After a bombing raid on Berlin, he lights up with the plan for Operation Valkyrie, which involves the deployment of the reserve army to maintain order in case of national emergency. The conspirators carefully revise the plan so they can dismantle the Nazi regime after assassinating Hitler. Realizing that only the General Fromm (Wilkinson), the Chief of the Army Reserve may initiateValkyrie, they offered him a job as head of the Wehrmacht in a post-Nazi German and recruit into the fold. With the plan of rewriting to be signed by Hitler (Bamber), von Stauffenberg visits Hitler in his field Berghof in Bavaria. In the presence of his inner circle, Hitler praises heroism von Stauffenberg in North Africa and sign on the plan without fully examining the changes.
At the insistence of Goerdeler von Stauffenberg to assassinate Hitler ordered SS chief Himmler and the Wolf's Lair bunker. At a final conference, Colonel Mertz von Quirnheim (Berkel) informed the committee members in how to use pencil detonators. Von Stauffenberg is also for general Fellgiebel (Izzard), which controls all communications to Wolf's Lair, cutting communications after the explosion of a bomb. On July 15, 1944, von Stauffenberg attended a strategy meeting at Wolf's Lair with the bomb in his briefcase, but not present at the meeting Himmler, von Stauffenberg did not get the green light from leaders of the committee until the meeting is over. Meanwhile, the Army Reserve is mobilized by Olbricht, unbeknownst to Fromm, to proceed. In the absence of measures, von Stauffenberg safely extracted himself and the bomb bay, and the Army Reserve was ordered to withdraw, believing that the mobilization has been training. Furious, von Stauffenberg went to the committee in protest against the indecision and incompetence of the blame Goerdeler, which was chosen as chancellor after the coup. When Goerdeler requires that von Stauffenberg be relieved, Beck tells him that the SS is looking for him and begged him to leave the country immediately.
On July 20, 1944, von Stauffenberg and his deputy Lieutenant Haeften (Parker) Back to the Wolf Den. To the dismay of von Stauffenberg, he discovers that the conference takes place in a barracks window was open, while the conspirators intended to detonate the bomb inside the walls of the shelter for a maximum damage .
