How long do I cook pork chops before BBQ'ing and what temperature? I always boil the prerequisites, but my son tells me that it is wrong and how to cook (steam) two hours at 350 ... is not this going to make briquettes?!
Hurry up and answer ... k? I have raw meat on my counter =)

Do not boil it, cook with a sheet tent over them and a little apple juice in the bottom of the pan. Maybe a little long and a bit of a high temp. Crap ... let me look and I'll send it to ya maybe. But DO NOT boil them. Maybe do 350 for one hour and with the tent ... Apple juice will give them the taste really good!

I always pre-cook my ribs. This recipe should work for you. If you do not have all the ingredients, I'd still slow boil. They are finished in the oven, but can be cooked on the grill during the final stage of cooking. Grill 10 minutes - allows BBQ sauce to stick to the ribs.

Beer Braised Ribs
4 pounds Country-Style Ribs, ribs 8-10
6 cloves garlic
2 small onion
2 bottles of ale, room temperature
2-4 cups water
Salt & Pepper
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 - glass 13 x 9 pans
Barbecue Sauce Recipe Below:

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Place each garlic clove under a hash
knife, make a sharp spike, remove skin, set
aside. Cut ends off the onion cut in half and half.

ribs Season with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tbsp soup
olive oil over medium heat in sauted. In batches
ribs take 3 minutes per side. Add olive oil
necessary. Place ribs in glass tanks.

Pour a bottle of beer on each side of ribs.
If this is not entirely covered Add 1-2 cups of water.
Add 3 cloves of garlic and onion to each pan,
separate the onions a bit.

Cook for 2 1 / 2. Check the tenderness
a fork, if the meat separates easily from the bone, they are
done. Remove from oven and place on serving platter.
Drain liquid, the ribs back in pan.

About 15 minutes before the ribs are cooking,
Mix barbecue sauce and heat over low heat in a sauce
saucepan, stirring occasionally. When the ribs are done, pour in
sauce over ribs, turn to coat. Turn oven temperature
350 degrees, the ribs return to oven, bake 10 minutes.

Bon Appetit called pork-boiling ... and pre-roasted meat. I do it about 45 minutes .... (2 hrs. At 350 is quite the cook!) ..... Blanching is just putting them in water to cover completely, with some spices and simmer for 45 minutes .... pre-roast is to dredge with flour / pepper / seasoning and bake at 375 for about 45 min. You are sealing in the juices, and letting some of the race off fat before grilling ..... It's amazing how long these people are roasted before putting them on the grill!

I do mine ... whole way. No boiling, no toast! staggered ribs on a sheet lined baking pan, rub with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and a drizzle of oil. Bake in a low temp Overn 325 for 2 hours, uncovered, turning once. "I add a little water in the pan the last half hour, if fat is the burning of the leaf and squeeze lemon juice over them. Serve with barbecue sauce on the side or you can brush near the end.

I think that two hours may be a bit long, but a good hour on the 350 and then at least 30 minutes on the grill (bottom) should do for you ....

next time give me a little longer and I'll come and cook for you ... BIG HUGS to you my dear :):):)

OK after a new reading of your question, it does not look like these babies are hitting the grill ... your son in law is not off base here, I could cook at 325 instead of 350 for 2 hours ... Enjoy!
